Architect's statement

The Overseas Passenger Terminal Upgrade is the third refurbishment of this heritage-listed facility, located in Circular Quay. The design features a generous public hall and deck, with new elements elegantly inserted to double the terminal’s capacity & operational efficiency. The upgrade works achieve a highly flexible, day-lit and naturally ventilated space suitable for uses beyond cruise operations. The result successfully preserves, re-introduces and expands the award-winning public domain achieved in prior renovations for the 1988 Bicentenary & 2000 Olympics.
